Supporting Kingston’s young businesses

Supporting Kingston’s young businesses

In April of this year, with the support of the Kingston University Business School and the Institute for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (ISBE), the Carbon Trust ran a successful START2ACT Business Breakfast.

The breakfast attracted 11 attendees from a range of sectors, including: architecture, management consultancy, construction, engineering, law, and manufacturing.

The breakfast briefing covered: the important no-to-low cost energy saving opportunities that can be found in the office; the further support available from START2ACT; and the support available from Kingston Business School. The event received very positive feedback:

“A wide-ranging, informative event with excellent content and up-to-date details!”

“Very useful. Look forward to joining up the various ideas.”

“The event encouraged thinking out of the box”

“The event was very informative in a relaxed environment. Delivered extremely well by all of the speakers.”

The Carbon Trust looks forward to working with Kingston Business School and ISBE to promote the next stage of START2ACT support to local businesses.

Young businesses can apply to receive direct consultancy support from a Carbon Trust expert. The businesses will receive 3 site visits over the course of a year. The purpose of these visits is to help businesses to understand their energy use and make changes to reduce their energy bills. The format of these visits will be flexible to allow businesses to ask questions and solve any problems that they face when implementing energy saving projects.

Businesses taking part in START2ACT will receive an energy efficiency training pack, including energy saving tips and advice, easy-to-use energy management templates and checklist to track progress.

Business who would like to benefit from this free support, please email start2act@carbontrust.com or register your interest here.

The next START2ACT breakfast briefing will be on 20 September in Peterborough. For further information an to sign up, visit this link: https://peterboroughbusinessenergyefficiency.eventbrite.co.uk
